Who We Are

Since 1987, Productive Builders, Inc. (PBI) has built a reputation for quality construction and trusted relationships throughout southeastern Wisconsin. Founded by Dan Harkelroad in Menomonee Falls, PBI has completed a wide variety of residential and commercial projects over the years, including homes, condominiums, restaurants, schools, churches, and more throughout the greater Milwaukee and Lake Country areas. After Dan’s retirement, leadership transitioned to Rod Killian, who led the company from 2005 to 2023. Today, under the leadership of Nathanael Rust, the company’s core values remain the same: honesty, dependability, and quality work. In 2025, we moved to a larger location in Butler, allowing us to better support our day-to-day operations and continue providing dependable service to our customers.

Throughout our history, we’ve stayed committed to these values. Our goal has never been to become the biggest general contractor, but to be one that takes the time to do each job right. We believe the best measure of our success is the trust we earn from our customers, which is why we place just as much importance on what’s behind the walls as what you see when the project is finished.

We understand that when we take care of our customers, we strengthen the same communities where our employees live and raise their families. Our team is made up of lifelong Wisconsinites, out-of-staters who met, married, and built their lives here, and others who chose Wisconsin as the place to raise their families. We care deeply about the communities we call home, and we strive to make a positive difference in the homes, businesses, and lives of our neighbors.
